Een boek schrijven met AI is een uitdagend project. Het vereist veel geduld, doordat AI vaak fouten herhaalt en moeite heeft met het begrijpen van nuances.
Het is alweer even geleden dat je iets van me gehoord hebt. De reden daarvoor is dat ik momenteel ontzettend druk ben met een nogal ongewoon project: ik probeer een boek te laten schrijven door AI, waarbij ik de instructies geef. Het neemt zoveel tijd in beslag dat ik nergens anders aan toekom.
Die AI, tja, het is een tweesnijdend zwaard. Als het goed gaat, is het indrukwekkend, maar als er een fout insluipt, blijft die er hardnekkig in zitten. Vooral met ChatGPT loop ik tegen dat probleem aan: het lijkt zijn fouten maar te blijven herhalen en echt begrijpen wat ik bedoel, lukt vaak niet, zelfs al heb ik mijn vragen en wensen heel duidelijk geformuleerd. Daarna lijkt het alsof de bot compleet de weg kwijt is. Het is ontzettend frustrerend om na lang wachten telkens weer van voren af aan te moeten beginnen.
Maar goed, ik blijf het proberen, want wie weet komt er uiteindelijk toch iets bruikbaars uit. Het voelt wel alsof het boek nooit echt af zal zijn, alsof het constant in ontwikkeling blijft. Ik ben er zeker van dat dit project nog een flinke tijd in beslag zal nemen.
Trying to Write a Book with AI: A Never-Ending Experiment
It’s been a while since you’ve heard from me, and there’s a good reason for that. Lately, I’ve been completely consumed by a rather unusual project: I’m trying to write a book using AI—giving it detailed instructions and hoping for the best. It’s turned into such a time-consuming endeavor that I barely have room for anything else.
Working with AI is like handling a double-edged sword. When it goes well, it’s impressive—sometimes even breathtaking. But when it goes wrong, the errors tend to stick around like stubborn stains. That’s been my biggest frustration with ChatGPT. Even when I clearly spell out what I want, it often just doesn’t seem to get it. And once a mistake is made, it keeps repeating the same thing over and over, like it’s stuck in a loop. After waiting so long for results, I often find myself starting from scratch all over again.
Still, I keep going—because I believe that if I push through the frustrations, something worthwhile might eventually emerge. The strange part is, it never really feels like the book is finished. It’s more like a living thing, constantly evolving and morphing into something new. And I have the feeling this project is going to be with me for quite some time.
But who knows? Maybe that’s what makes it worth it.
